After a 10 year career at HSBC, a part of which I worked very closely with Steve, the opportunity came about to join Steve and the team at SWBF where I felt I could support SME’s far more effectively by combining my expertise with the whole of market, as opposed to being restricted to one lender.
In my time at HSBC, the majority of which was spent in Commercial Banking, I gained a huge amount of commercial experience and financial knowledge, an extensive professional network, as well as a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face SME’s in today’s economic climate. I could also see a rapidly changing Lender marketplace that is fast becoming bigger than just the high street banks, and I feel this makes SWBF the ideal partner for SME’s going forward.
Joining SWBF has felt like joining a family. Much like everyone else I am a keen rugby fan. My wife and I are big Exeter Chief supporters (I don’t think this has gone down well in the office!) and I enjoy a healthy rivalry with my in-laws who are proudly Welsh! I am also trying to improve my golf handicap, although this is very much a “work in progress” at the moment.
Life outside of work currently revolves around my beautiful 6 month old daughter who keeps me smiling every day, and any spare time I have is usually spent out with the dog or watching sport in pretty much any form!
