Managing Director Steve Barrett celebrates 40 years in finance

Steve Barrett, Managing Director of SWBF Business & Property Finance, is celebrating an impressive milestone this November, marking 40 years in the finance industry.

Over the past four decades, Steve has built a career founded on trust, experience and a genuine commitment to helping businesses and property investors achieve their ambitions. Since co-founding SWBF Business & Property Finance, he has supported hundreds of clients in securing the funding needed to grow, invest and succeed.

Widely respected for his extensive knowledge of the commercial finance market and his relationship-led approach, Steve has helped guide clients through changing economic conditions while maintaining a focus on delivering practical solutions and exceptional service.

“It seems a long time ago now, but I started my career at 17 at Midland Bank in Trowbridge. I certainly wouldn’t have imagined then that 40 years later I’d still be working in finance and celebrating a milestone like this.

A huge amount has changed over those 40 years, but for me the most important part of the job hasn’t. It’s still about people, building relationships, earning their trust and doing your best to find the right solution for them.
I’ve been very fortunate to work with some fantastic clients, colleagues and professional partners over the years. There have been plenty of changes and challenges along the way, but I’m enormously proud of what we’ve built at SWBF and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.”
