On the 30th June, 9 climbers and 2 drivers from the South West Business Finance Team set off to Scotland to take on the 3 Peaks Challenge raising money for their Charity Partner, the Youth Adventure Trust.
The 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scaffell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), often within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres!
On Friday, we set off in two minibuses for the long journey to Scotland and the rain set in, this wasn’t to change over the weekend. An early start at 5am meant we were at the foot of Ben Nevis and raring to go by 7am. We made it to Scaffell Pike by 8pm where some of the team took on this mammoth challenge in the dark and extremely windy conditions! Next it was onto Snowdon where we started the climb at 7am. The mountain climbs were harder than any of us could ever have imagined as we were met by sleet showers, – 11 degree temperatures, pouring rain and thick fog.
Between the whole team we managed to summit all three mountains and a huge congratulations to Dan, Kai and Tom who made it up and down all three!
There were tears, injuries, exhaustion and more emotion than we care to think about! But amazing teamwork, generosity from everyone who donated, and knowing the money we were raising was going to support such an amazing cause at Youth Adventure Trust kept us pushing all the way.
A huge THANK YOU to our lending partners, clients, colleagues, friends and family, and everyone else who donated to get a to the summits. An experience we won’t forget for a while!

Youth Adventure Trust helps vulnerable young people aged 11-16 years old unlock their potential and lead positive lives in the future. Their Youth Adventure Programme, which spans 3 school years, is a genuinely life changing opportunity, giving young people the chance to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime.
They help up to 360 young people a year develop these key skills through the challenge of outdoor adventure. They support each young person to build on their personal strengths through individualised support and feedback, enabling them to become reflective, see their abilities and challenge themselves to develop in the ways which will help them in the long term.
